Physiology – Lecture 11

Er, we went over cardiac output yesterday. A lot of graphics, and … stuff. Dunno what went on, but… it wasn’t easy!
Something about the cardiac muscle, muscle contractions… mostly worked on the worksheet.
Dr Moore wente crazy on us on the cardiac muscle contraction, and other kinds of … stuff. I didn’t pay attention all day long ~ just kept looking at Craigslist for furnitures and other things.
Like the BioChem mid-term, Dr Levy and Dr Moore are also toying with us, lulling us into thinking physiology is going to be easy. We all knew it might be super hard, with how crazy the flow and resistance and etc can get. Hell, physic was my worst subject in Engineering! Easy [...]
Very simple lab. We first learned what osmotic pressure means. Dr Garcia explained it really clearly. Then, we placed drop of blood in various solution, and observed whether blood remained cloudy, or turned clear (due to hemolysis). That’s about it.
After eating a big lunch over at the bar and grill place across the street from Best Western Hotel, I only took down minimal notes…
Lecture Notes
Summary:
We went into the cardiac muscle today in regards to the action potentials and ionic pathways.
New professor today! Dr. Moore is extremely energetic and happy to teach. He is also very aware of when people are starting to doze off (namely myself) – however, since it’s EXCEL, we’re just taking it easy and he gave us quite a few breaks during the 3 grueling hours. I rather [...]
Someone once asked me what’s the point of posting my notes online? Well, the answer is simple – my laptop hdd is bound to die eventually, and if the back-up works, GREAT! IF not, I wouldn’t really care either because I usually toss away my old written notebooks anyway. However, I would [...]
“We have until 4 o’clock…” – Dr. Levy, when no one stood up to go write the answer on the chalk board at around 1 pm.
Lecture Notes
Summary:
Went over the homework problems, then talked about action potential and finished off with the giant squid problem in the homework.
I was wide awake for this lecture of physiology, I believe mostly because I’m retarded about action potentials. I don’t understand why I can’t grasp the concept… it’s surely easy enough, but I just couldn’t follow what Dr. Levy was discussing up on the board very well; especially nearing the end of the lecture [...]
Taught by Dr Levy – he likes to interact, so be prepared for his lectures =)
In summary, there was a brief introduction to the course, and then we started covering the basics of physiology. We started with the human body and the components that makes a man work. Then moved briefly into homeostasis. [...]
