I finally filled my first tooth today! It was #19 BO amalgam with slight cuspal coverage on the MB. I was able to take out the amalgam without much of a problem… and I found a lot of weird blackness underneath. Dr. Weinberg was the faculty who oversaw the whole thing and [...]

Today is the first day that I used a high speed handpiece in someone’s mouth! Today’s patient has a cervical class 5 amalgam on #27 and I discovered that the inflammation on the tissue maybe due to a slight overhang. So, with permission, I scaled all the mandibular teeth and I smoothed out [...]

A very nice middle aged man who is quadriplegic. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t meet his scheduling needs and had to give him up to a 4th year… I would’ve liked to have continued with his treatment since he is missing bilaterally mandibular 2nd premolars. Ah well!

It’s the final weekend to the DMD 2 1st semester ~ and we’re going to spend it studying periodontium. How hard is it? Well, a quick survey tells us we have about 1000 power point slides to go through and memorize, a few addendum study material, book… etc. It’s funny though, how [...]

It’s more than 3 months from today. But just the mere act of scheduling the exam created an immense stress/pressure ceiling … fear is already piling up within me ~ 1000+ dental deck cards, hundreds of pages of first aid NBDE prep book, hundreds of diagrams, countless bits of testable information.
I feel like I [...]

Cause after 4 weeks of starting DMD 2, I sure don’t feel like I’m in dental school~!
After some 2.5 months of APEX rotation where all of us suctioned and catered to our assigned doctor’s every whim ~ we’re now back in school. Instead of just sitting in G-301, an extremely cramped room where the [...]

Earlier today, I watched Dr. G work on a patient with periodontal disease. It was a rather simple procedure where the patient’s gumline have ah, risen interproximally and it’s up to Dr. G to go in and cut that extra meat out! So… yeah, that was it. Anyway, this is about bed [...]

To the classmates who actually frequent my little blog for additional notes on the various classes – sorry ~ I got lazy.
To the people who visit this site because Google or whatever else led you here (probably anime images), you probably was happy you didn’t have to read all those dental school crap =)
To myself [...]

In the beginning, it was just a three layered flat ceramic tile with patterns. I held my high speed gingerly in between my fingers, and thought about what I’ve been taught concerning angulation and positioning. Sitting in the proper posture and staring down at the tile, I began drilling/preparing/prepping. The burr, spinning [...]

Microbiology
Operative Lecture
Since Dela asked, I’m posting this out of sequence ~
Lecture Notes
Study hard for the exam! Since it won’t include composites, I’m not going to write up the next one just yet. Be sure to look at the handouts from CourseInfo ~ they’re pretty damn detailed and important to know too.

The four of us: Dustin, Komail, Mo, and I rotated through and attempted to survive the craziness that’s IDP practical. The first thing was Intra/Extra-oral exam where we basically rubbed each other down and asked how the patient feels. Well, I didn’t know what the [...]
