I feel… a little dirty
Prior to the Christmas Break, Bank of America sent me an offer from Elite Excursions ~ sign up for their trial offer, and get a Portable DVD Player! Usually, I would just toss it into the trash, but after living with Mo and Ricky for a while, I was more in tuned with making money. So I figured ~ I’d get that free DVD player, and if it sucks, I’ll sell it!
After I got back from the break, the Introductory Membership Package came, and after looking through what they offer, I marked down on the calendar for when to call in to cancel. Within the package, was a little postcard with “free DVD player!” I mailed it in immediately and that was it for the longest time. About a week ago, the time to cancel was upon me, so I called in, canceled, and the girl said, “the DVD player… you want it don’t you?” I said, “it doesn’t matter, just cancel my trial subscription please.” I figured it’s a catch that they do… if you cancel your trial membership prior to them actually sending the DVD player, they won’t send it!
Days later, the stupid player actually came. It’s a Coby TF-DVD7005, and every review of it I read, said it sucked balls. Hell, someone even said they wouldn’t use it if Coby gave them money to use it! It breaks down easily, the battery last about 45 minutes, and it skips a crapload. But, Amazon got it on sale for $69.99. So, I decided to sell it as I originally planned and posted an ad on craigslist last night.
This morning, someone responded… and they offered 40 for the player. I countered with 50, and eventually settled for 45. Now, usually I wouldn’t feel bad since if they’ve can read my ad, they should have all the resources to look up the player, do a little research, and realize the unit, though it cost $69.99, is a real piece of junk. But, when I met the buyer, I realized… an old lady wouldn’t do research… ahh, I feel dirty taking her money. … Oh well.
