Azumi (2003)
Once upon a time, Japan had a civil war, and the people who won commanded a man to form a team of assassins to kill any who might stir up trouble again. Azumi is one of these assassins, and with her buddies who grew up with her - they take on missions to kill three warlords who sought to take over Japan!
It’s a Japanese movie - so if you watch it without expecting too much, you won’t walk away disappointed. The story wasn’t all that bad - but it’s kinda standard without any real deviation or subterfuge - I expected some plot twists, but there were none to be had! You can predict the ending from the very beginning really… Azumi takes names and kicks ass - till the very end. There were some possible weepy moments, but those would only affect really emotional Japanese housewives. Overall, it’s not a bad movie - so if you see it on the rental shelve and have nothing better to watch, give it a shot.
