Charlotte’s Web (2006)
Dakota Fanning is really growing up to be the next Jodie Foster. With her slightly larger than usual frontal lobe, she is mature beyond her age and can really act whatever parts they throw at her! However, the star of Charlotte’s Web wasn’t Dakota, but Juliet Roberts, the voice of the spider who saved a piggie from becoming pork chops.
The story began with Dakota Fanning saving a little runt piggie from death but then giving him up to a farm across the street. It was a cold and productive farm, but the little piggie livened up the place in the most retarded ways possible. Actually, I didn’t really understand why all the farm animals took a liking to the piggie — he wasn’t special or did anything extraordinary other than being born small. Maybe it was because the piggie had a big heart and called ignorantly called everyone his friends, including the spider. Because the piggie wasn’t biased (cause he wasn’t socially conditioned toward fearing spiders), he found a friend with the spider. And the spider kicked ass.
It’s funny how the voice acting was done so well — makes me wonder why Japanese anime couldn’t have such good English dubs. I know I don’t have a voice for radio, but damn… I’m pretty sure American VAs are being paid a lot more than their Japanese counterparts — so why can’t we get some good quality voice? … Ah well — whatever. I’m sure many of you are already familiar with the story of Charlotte’s Web ~ it’s done “well” but it’s nothing to get too excited about.
