Organic Chemistry Lab
From 7:30 am till at most, 1:30 pm. Six hours seem like an eternity sometimes, especially for a class, but usually, we’re out an hour or two early. In the organic lab, time usually flies by — even during reflux! It’s really a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the class completely! Too bad I waited this long to take it, but even though I had to wake up at ungodly hours, it’s still a blast =) I think it’s mostly due to our kickass TA – Ciceron Yanez. The man is the best TA possible for Organic Lab in my opinion — extremely flexible and understanding =)
For the final exam, I hardly studied – and I missed most of the fill in the blanks. It’s unfortunate, but I suppose I didn’t really need to do that well on it =) Some people finished rather quickly, but I took my time, and got all the synthesis questions correct – so even though I hadn’t a clue how to calculate partial pressures nor know the various terminologies for things – I got a 84% on the test!
I highly recommend anyone taking the lab, to find out who the TA is – and make sure the TA isn’t a tightass. When I spoke with students in other sections — some required a formal report every single week, and would have crazy obtuse questions for quizzes. Crazy I tell ya =) Or.. maybe Mr Yanez was lenient because it’s 7:30 in the mornin!
