Resident Evil 4 (GameCube)

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

I bought the GameCube from Linda just to play this damn game. It’s rated as one of the best game ever made for the GameCube, and I can’t really argue with it since I’ve only played like.. 4 games for the GC. Anyway, cross platform wise, Resident Evil 4 is fun, but not [...]

Brokedown Palace (1999)

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

Coming home from the lab, I thought I’d pick up a movie to go with my Chinese takeout dinner. With my free rental coupon in hand, I browsed the older movies in BlockBuster. Several caught my attention, but when I saw Brokedown Palace, I’m reminded of Delerium feat Sarah McLachlan – Silence. [...]

Lab 04

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

The lab work is trivial as always. Quiz today sorta overwhelmed me though – gotta start preparing for it seriously.

Lecture 14 – Test #1

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

Test today. It should be easy… more than half is multiple choice.

Lecture 14

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

The test on Monday will cover everything up till what we talked about today. It’s going to be pretty damn hard – took the practice test and only got 30/50 right.
Lecture Notes
Summary:
We went over the cell wall today, comparing the differences between prokaryote cell wall versus archaea. We have to know how gram [...]

The cutest fence climber ever!

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

My little niece has learned how to climb out of her crib! It’s so damn adorable I almost gouged my eyes out.

Lecture 14

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

We chugged along and didn’t do any review for the test in detail. Hopefully, it won’t be too difficult on Monday. Test will cover chapter 1-6, and depending on how detailed it’s going to be, I guess I’d adjust the efforts thrown into this class =)
Summary:
We talked more about synapse of the nerve [...]

Lab 05

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Today, we had an investigative type of experiment, exploring how to use steam distillation to produce eugenol and water as codistillate. The setup is basically the same as simple distillation with minor alterations and changes. We basically boiled cloves, and wait until the eugenol condenses on the receiving end.
Unfortunately, we had to collect [...]

Lab 08

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

All we did today was go over what we did on Monday by examining all the different culture plates and tubes. Unfortunately, our unknown turned out blank across the board, and everything didn’t pan out as expected. Maybe we went too fast!

Lecture 13

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

Test is on Friday ~ excitement is in the air, as Dr Selby announced over 50% failed the easy quiz. Hope of passing for the majority of the class is low. Heh.
Oh yeah, I love this insane music – it pumps you up for the test =)

Lecture Notes
Summary:
We started going over protein functions [...]

Lecture 13

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

It’s easy to tell a difference here – Dr White cares, so I care too.
Lecture Notes
Summary:
Transport proteins seem really important to Dr White, and went spent the first quarter of the hour talking about translocation and the ABC system (ATP binding cassette). Next, we started talking about cell wall structure, and how different it [...]

Lecture 13

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

It’s so easy to stop caring about a class when the teacher don’t really care either. I personally don’t think the lecture notes are her own – rather, they belonged to “Dr Flory,” and she is stealing em. That’s why she can only read from them. Unprepared, and can’t even say simple [...]

My dysfunctional brain

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Tonight, I discovered that ever since I last made fresh batch of ecdysone, I left the stock out in the room temperature under the hood. This… made me go into a frantic mode and I started running around in circle, almost panicking! I would swear that I clean up after myself completely every [...]

Is God slowly taking New Orleans apart?

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

New Orleans is famed for the yearly ritualistic Mardi Gras, a day of carnal pleasure right before the Christian’s Ash Wednesday. Guess what Ash Wednesday is for?

Some Christians treat Ash Wednesday as a day for remembering one’s mortality. Masses are traditionally held on this day at which attendees are blessed with ashes by the [...]

SanDisk kicks ass! LOTS OF IT!

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Since 1988, SanDisk has expanded its sphere of market throughout the globe and is now known as the leading maker of flash memories and other little goodies you can’t live without. During the Thanksgiving shopping rush last year, I picked up a wonderful 512 MB Digital Audio Player. It plays quite well and [...]
