Simple algebra. Right. Cool story about exploding chemical today. Something less than half an aspirin, took out an entire room. Very cool =)

Summary:

Today we continued where we left off with the Michaelis-Menten equation and the various interpretation of the data. I think I can grasp the concept of plugging and chuggin and getting the graph, but if I’m asked to derive the equation… I might hafta fudge it quite a bit.

Lecture 30

We finished up chapter 22 today and went over a couple of homework problems. Test is on Wednesday, will probably be pretty hard since I’ve been slacking pretty badly. Did 9 hours of organic homework last night to review, but still failed. I suck.

Summary:

Haloform, which would convert methyl group next to carbonyl center into a leaving group, or CX3. This is good for getting rid of just ONE methyl group. Heh

An example of using haloform to cut out the methy from a pentanone, to butanoic acid.

We then went over some malonic ester conversions, and did problems 48 and 49.
